I’d rather be………

As cliche as it may sound, I honestly would rather be on a blinding white sand beach in the Caribbean, Grand Anse beach Grenada to be exact.

You see I am an island girl, Grenadian born, so nostalgia is real right now.

My toes in the warm sand, a chilled virgin pina colada while laying aimlessly under a shady coconut tree, alternating ever so often with the perfectly calm, clean, turquoise water.

So yes, I’d rather be home right now if I had it my way.

Simple fashion styling through the winter

Winter is here, and lately she has been very indecisive; two days freezing, three days warm, and my wardrobe and I are left confused!

So, on a not so cold day in February I rocked this outfit; light leather jacket paired with my olive tall boots to add a little color to the all black.

Ladies, just flow with the weather and keep it moving!

What do you think?IMG_2989IMG_2973IMG_2983IMG_2971IMG_2985IMG_2986IMG_2990

Summer, Sweet Summer…..

Hey all!!! Summer is Here
!!!!!

I absolutely and completely LOVE Summer!

Pretty sundresses, bright colors everywhere, sunshine daily, flip flops and ice cream are some of the things that make this season my fav!

So on this bright summer Wednesday I mustered up enough courage to rock my TuTu. Not just any TuTu, a bright cobalt blue one!IMG_5852

The biggest decision was what shirt to wear with it, so I eventually narrowed my options down to a tee shirt and a neon cotton shirt, and took pics of both looks for you to check out. To jazz it up a tad, I knotted the front of both shirts, yes maam.

Honestly, I love both looks!

And can we talk about the colors… I know coupling bright blue with neon pink may seem a bit risky, but its a fashion risk I am willing to take. As you may have figured out by now, I live my life in color, with zero apologies!

So, my brave fashionistas, let’s rock our colors any which way we please this summer!

PS:  You can turn this look all the way up with heels, or turn it all the way down with sneakers. Cute flats settles it right in the middle.

The tights have it!…..in Pink

Untitled designWinter is still here and I tried to lighten the winter blues by injecting bright pink colored tights into my wardrobe, and I loved it!!

This particular day it was almost sixty degrees in February, so I broke out the denim shorts and coupled it with an oversized sweater and pink tights!

Another outfit, in a monochromatic moment I opted for grey jersey skirt and added grey sweater and again rocked my pink tights! (sidebar; you can swap out the flat boots for heeled boots and formalize the look)

Ladies we can still be cute even when its cold outside!

Of course this look may not be for the faint of heart, but for those of us who think outside the wardrobe, it is smashing!

ps. I matched my lipstick to my tights…..

Always, Brooklyn!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

Christmas and Summer are my two favorite times of the year! I hope that all had a wonderful holiday season, and for this new year my wish for you is Peace, and my suggestion for absolute peace is Prayer.

O.K with that being said, I want to share my Christmas vacation with you! As you may have guessed, I visited my old stomping ground, Brooklyn NY, and as always Brooklyn did not disappoint, we had a great holiday!

It’s amazing the way being surrounded by family, good Caribbean food and friends can quickly alter your plans (sometimes for better, sometimes for worse). My boys who were reluctant to make the trip, were asking to say an extra day, so we stayed an extra day.

We visited our old church and stepped right into the beat just as if we had not left. I loaded up on my Caribbean foods (oxtails, callaloo, rice and peas, fried fish, curry goat, sweet potatoes, black cake and sorrel, yes lots of sorrel!)

Because I had to pack for my family, I had to limit the amount of outfits I could carry for myself, so I accessorized with scarves and  headbands and kept it basic with long sleeve t-shirts and jeans.

All in all Christmas in Brooklyn was all I hoped it would be and more, and we can’t wait to go back this Spring break and Summer (God’s willing).

In my next post you will experience my New York City adventure!
